Curves Around the World #10 – Monochrome

curves

Hi ladies, apologies for the crappy photo quality and slight rushed-ness of this post, but I’ve just relocated to Hong Kong and everything has been a blur! I hope you can appreciate that moving back to a foreign country and trying to sort out somewhere to live is a monumental and daunting task – but fear not – I have some photos that I look last week for today’s look, which is … MONOCHROME.

Black and white – simple, classic, pretty hard to get wrong, no? Well white is often not a friend to the plus-sized diva, so I chose my outfit to be mainly black but with just the odd block or two of white. My sister gave me this dress a few weeks ago because she didn’t want it anymore – and I fell in love with it. While the heavy material and three quarter length sleeves don’t make it ideal for Hong Kong wearing (far too hot!) I’m almost looking forward to the colder months so I can whip it out.

As you can see, the dress is very structural, which I find is a great look on anyone – it reminds me of shoulder pads and power dressing! The shape is quite boxy, but the clingy fabric and long length sleeves balance this out to make the dress very chic. It’s understated and elegant, so I like to wear it with my hair up and a statement bag. There is a little zip on the back in the white panel, but I find it awkward to pull it up by myself so I usually just shimmy into the whole thing with the zip done up!

I think my sister got this dress from Primark – this one is a size 14 so it’s maybe a smidgeon too small but I don’t think that really matters. I like the dress and the whole ‘sexy nun’ vibe it gives off – so it’s a monochrome beauty that’s staying in my wardrobe!

Sorry again for the short post girls, but this week and next are going to be quite short while I sort my life out in Hong Kong – after that though I hope to give you my full and undivided attention!

Meanwhile, check out the fantastic blogs of the other CATW girls and their take on the monochrome trend for plus sizes:

Steph you are one sexy nun! hehe I think the dress looks great on you and it kind of reminds me of a Mod 70’s kind of dress, which I love! I hope everything works out with moving back! 🙂
