Themes of Alienation

They worry about me
with their good intentions. Friends,

countrymen, wise old
men and women
with their prescription pads and heads
like nodding dogs

reading my writing but not really
reading
themes of alienation

themes of worrying themselves
sick on a sick girl, prone to
madness and
relentless

unhappy beautification of
shrouds and navel-gazing

I am not what I write
I am not tropes of lonely, addled
blissful end-wishing

I am unburnt by
prose attributed to my person
please, bring me your inspection

bring me your
flaccid well-wishing, your concern

at the ugly words I am carving
cages born of
breathing, thinking, being

if these are themes of
alienation I am
writing

not fiction, but plagues
of
tropes of
turning, curling
progressive, snarling
machine-born
broken, stupid, selfish
alienation

well, it rains on me. Turn pages please
your projection is
unwelcome

I can
annihilate just as well, alone.
